This is an overview over all older Custom Sceneries for X-Plane by Maps2XPlane, and outdated contributions to third-party sceneries. Essentially freeware sceneries that are – at least for now – no longer being further developed. Some are still available and work fine – at least to a limited extent – also in newer versions of X-Plane, but others are no longer available.
The decisions to not develop these sceneries further were not easy, and had several different reasons for each. For example: A huge project like Antarctica4XPlane cannot be maintained and further developed alone. In its heyday, this particular project had around half a dozen regular contributors and countless supporters in the X-Plane community over several years.
Interests of the X-Plane community are subject to a continuous change, and developers adapt activities accordingly. Don’t get me wrong, that’s totally fine, and just the current situation: Times will change again, and I would be happy to fill the one or the other scenery with new life at some point. Scenery packages by Maps2XPlane
Krabi, one of the southern provinces of Thailand, is covered by a series of freeware scenery packages #Krabi4XPlane. The project is a joint venture of Stefan Schrön a.k.a. monoblau and Maps2XPlane. Each of the scenery packages feature a custom terrain mesh by Maps2XPlane and semi-fictive overlay sceneries by monoblau. Released so far are three scenery packages: Phi Phi Islands, Poda Group Islands and Krabi Outback. More details and snapshots in the developer blog…
In addition to the Antarctica sceneries, my freeware packages #Subantarctic4XPlane cover selected Subantarctic Islands. Released so far are: Prince Edward Islands (two small south-african islands in the sub-antarctic Indian Ocean) and Heard Island and McDonald Islands (an Australian external territory comprising a volcanic group). Both terrain mesh scenery packages are complemented by add-on sceneries from third-parties. More details and snapshots…
Selected regions of Antarctica are covered by my freeware scenery packages #Antarctica4XPlane. Three parts of the – in the X-Plane default scenery completely missing – continent are released so far and are available in the forum of my partner Aerosoft. Covered so far are: South Orkney Islands and Antarctic Peninsula, Victoria Land and Transantarctic Mountains, Coats Land and Queen Maud Land. The terrain mesh sceneries get complemented by dozens of add-on sceneries from third-parties. More details and snapshots…
Contributions to third-party sceneries

Cologne Bonn Airport for X-Plane is Cedric Gauche‘s freeware rendition of the international airport of Germany’s fourth-largest city Cologne. The scenery package is one of the most extensive freeware offers ever seen for X-Plane! It contains a custom edited terrain mesh by Maps2XPlane, and does not only cover the airport in an incredible detail, but it also offers individual configuration options on the level of a professional payware product. Update Oct, 2023: No longer available in its original form.
