Let’s make it official: The two-part series Society Islands XP will be continued – and that very soon! After the release of the first part Bora Bora & Leeward Islands, we focused past year the development of the second part Tahiti & Windward Islands. And that development is almost finished! I’ll published a few articles over the next few weeks, starting today with the landscape:
As you know, the Society Islands in the South Pacific Ocean are geographically divided into two groups: The Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands. The latter are covered by the second part of Society Islands XP, namely: Tahiti, Moorea, Tetiaroa, Maiao and Mehetia. These islands are featured by the scenery with a custom terrain mesh with photo-realistic textures:

The terrain mesh is complemented with custom overlays: dense vegetation and country-typical autogen, as well as custom road-networks and sea-routes including dynamic traffic:

And of course, the scenery package will feature numerous landing-sites, i.a. Faa’a International Airport, Moorea Temae Airport and the Tetiꞌaroa Airstrip, and a couple heliports. More about that in upcoming articles. Follow the developer blog and our Facebook page so you don’t miss any news!
Last but not least, a word on compatibility: After some deliberation, we decided that the initial version of the scenery pack should not only be usable in X-Plane 12, but still be compatible with X-Plane 11. It is planned, that this initial release follows an XP12-specific update, which will then also make use of new, exclusive XP12-features – as soon as X-Plane 12 is in a more advanced stage!
Update: Out now! Get Society Islands XP – Tahiti & Windward Islands now in the Aerosoft Shop, or alternatively via Steam (for XP12, or XP11), or via partner shops such as the Org Store. Further info about our newest scenery package as well as tons of stunning screenshots in the official release announcement and the developer blog.
