It’s been a while since the last news about Society Islands XP – Tahiti & Windward Islands. The last time we informed about The Landscape, and since then, development has progressed continuously. While I was busy updating our other scenery packages to X-Plane 12, Albert stayed in the South Pacific and did an excellent job there on the single Airports which will be included in Society Islands XP – Tahiti & Windward Islands, and about which we want to inform you in this article:
First and foremost to mention is of course Faa’a International Airport (NTAA), the international airport of French Polynesia, located on the volcanic island of Tahiti. The airport handles about 1,5 million passengers annually, and can accommodate aircraft up to Boeing 747 and Airbus A380. The airport is situated about 5 kilometers southwest of Papeete, the capital city of Tahiti, and serves both domestic and international flights by Air Tahiti Nui and several international airlines:

Furthermore implemented in detail, you will find the regional Moorea Temae Airport (NTTM) on Mo’orea, the neighboring island of Tahiti, just 15 kilometers to the west. Mo’orea is a volcanic, mountainous island with the highest point at 1207 meters, and its enclosed reef surrounds the entire island. The airport is served by Air Tahiti, and can accommodate aircraft up to ATR 72:

Last but not least, we also implemented the Tetiꞌaroa Airstrip (NTTE) on Onetahi, one of twelve islets of the Tetiaroa Atoll, located 53 kilometers north of Tahiti. The islets are under a 99-year lease contracted by Marlon Brando and are home to The Brando Resort, served by private flights by Air Tetiaroa, departing at a private terminal at Faa’a International Airport:

As you can see, the developments on Airports, Overlays and Terrain Mesh are coming to an end. We just want to make a few more improvements to the Autogen, and then the scenery package should be ready for beta testing! And, I almost forgot: As usual for our extensive scenery packages, we will also have a surprise for fans of helicopters: Three challenging heliports are waiting for you in addition to the three Airports. More on that in the next article: Stay tuned!
